Platinum Boys is the union of four native Milwaukee party animals hellbent on creating the greatest vibes from rock's most disparate sub-genre's. Comprised of Joe Bon Joey, Matty Mayhem, Kc Hewz, and Aaron Skufca (members of such underground notables as Catacombz, The Fatty Acids, and Rio Turbo), these rapscallions are on a mission to pursue babes, beers, blow, and bongs; riffage and good times abound. Like a forgotten collegiate-farce movie of the 1980's, Platinum boys unite the furious stoner grooves of Black Sabbath with the immediacy of Midwest power pop. In 2015, after years of eating irony for all three meals and as a nightcap, one must take a leap of faith and assume that an act like Platinum Boys genuinely like to party down. They are from Milwaukee afterall, so it’s not like they haven’t been consuming beer spillover along with flouride since they first learned how to brush their teeth, which, from the sounds of this debut LP, Future Hits, was about two years ago. Featuring former members of regional dust-ups like Catacombz, Rio Turbo and the Fatty Acids, it’s not all just riff-chug. The band can bring it down to scruffy love ballads (Wild Child), noodle-boogie (Ride Free) and of course straight-up Ramones-ing (Cruisin’ USA). So maybe it is all just riff-chug, plus lyrics like, “In the back of a car, you show me who you are” to boot, and so be it. - Eric Davidson, CMJ

Oh yeah, baby, the Platinum Boys are back at it. After releasing Future Hits back in March, these Milwaukee dudes are wasting no time, with a new EP, Junior Varsity, and a single that’s dropping right before they hit the road. “Downtown,” is a heavy rocker that should sound familiar to fans of P-Boys’ sound, and if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, am I right?!? As Marc Maron once said, “The Platinum Boys rock. Hard.
